Dog Games

Camo Rope Collection Indoors or outdoors – enjoying a game with your dog is affiliated with being a top-notch owner. When the weather is complimentary, bring your pal outside for some play time. Catch is a timeless game that you and your pooch can enjoy together. Find an open area with running room and bring along a flying disc or a ball for some tossing. If playing catch has become routine, switch it up. Similar to playing fetch is a game called Flyball. Set up about four jumps with a box at the end with some sort of bait inside (a ball will work just fine). Train your dog to complete the jumps, head towards the box, retrieve the ball, and bring it back without dropping it. The more often this game is practiced, the better your dog will become. Once your canine is fairly fluent in Flyball, invite other athletic dogs to participate in a relay – the game is great fun (and exercise)! If you take pleasure in bike rides, bring along your friend – obedient dogs who work well on leashes make for wonderful biking buddies. When the weather is drab there are still an abundance of indoor games for you and your pooch to partake in. Grab a favored dog toy and teach your dog to play hide-and-seek, or even hide yourself. This classic game can carry on for hours if you allow, dogs get a kick out of it. Tug-of-war is also a way to burn some energy off your dog indoors if you have a dog rope toy available. Instilling new tricks is a great way to build obedience with your pooch while keeping them entertained (keep some delicious dog treats on hand). Regardless of the forecast, games with your dog are endless – just pick one and start playing!

Winter weather conditions may prevent your furry friend from enjoying as much outdoor playtime, but don’t let Jack Frost stop the fun. Since your pooch won’t be spending as much exploration time outside get inventive with some indoor interaction that will keep your pup entertained.

Hide and go seek is a great game to play with your pooch year-round, especially during days that call for rain and snow. Not only will playing a game of hide and go seek stimulate your puppy’s curious mind, it will also provide entertainment for you and your pooch. This game improves your dog’s sense of smell in an enjoyable and satisfying style. Begin with a handful of your canine’s favorite dog treats. In the beginning of this game there will be two people involved: one who stays with Fido and another who hides. When the hider is ready they will verbally indicate the initiation of the game and your dog can explore from room-to-room until the hider has been found. Upon discovery, give your pup praise for finding you with one of those delicious dog treats. Dogs love this game and it helps build their search skills.
Stimulating Toys
Dog toys have out done themselves in today’s day in age. There are newly improved dog tug toys and dog plush toys that can serve for an enjoyable time of interaction between your pup and you. Enhance your pooch’s mind with a dog puzzle that will stimulate their mind while keeping them entertained. For some calorie burning, invest in a laser pen that will have your dog running around in a happy curiosity.
Trick Training
Those daper weathered days shouldn’t keep your canine from getting the exercise they deserve. Teaching your pooch tricks will help shape them into more obedient dogs. Having your dog sit up to beg for 10 reps will keep their core muscles solid and helps improve balance and stability. Another great exercise for your dog’s core muscles is “rolling over”. Have your canine do five rolls each direction to ensure that their muscles have been targeted evenly. Encourage your pup to shake hands with you to assist in stretching out those shoulder muscles, completing 5-10 reps with each front paw.

Outdoor Fun for Pets and Owners

Being cooped up all winter can really take a toll on both people, and their pets. With the lack of exercise and activity, your dog can become restless and even destructive in your home. Increasing your dog’s activity levels outside can provide mental stimulation as well as allowing them to release pent up energy. Here are a few great ideas for activities to get yourself and your pet outside!

An everyday walk for your dog can go a long way, before you take your furry friend on a walk, make sure you have a proper dog collar as well as dog leash, to ensure a safe and comfortable walking experience. To switch up your normal walking routine, try taking your dog on a hike. Hikes can be a great change of pace from an everyday walk, and challenges your dog in different ways. Make sure to pack travel bowls for water and treats for your dog.

If your dog prefers activity more than a simple walk, try a game of fetch or Frisbee, which are great training opportunities for your dog as well. Water activities can be a great way for your dog to stay cool and experience a new form of exercise as well. While many dogs are natural swimmers, a pet life preserver would be a good idea for those dogs not experienced with swimming. Waterproof and floating dog toys allow your dog to combine swimming and fetching, two activities sure to wear them out.

So as the warm weather approaches, try some new outdoor games and activities with your pooch. This exercise will not only curb your dog’s bad behavior indoors, but also bond owner and pet. Plus, exercise is a crucial element in your dog’s life to ensure a happy and healthy pet. Enjoy the season!
